Configure marketplace to be able to install the Dropea app on Shopify
How to create a marketplace in Shopify before installing the Dropea app in your store
To properly install and connect the Dropea app, you must first have created the marketplace in which you will operate in Shopify.
If the marketplace is not already created in Shopify, you will need to create it before installing the Dropea app .
If you try to install or connect the app without having previously created the corresponding market, the system will show you an error and you will not be able to complete the installation correctly.
What is a marketplace in Shopify?
Shopify marketplaces allow you to configure the selling experience for one or more countries or regions.
Within each market you can define aspects such as:
- The countries or regions in which you will sell.
- The currency used.
- The products available.
- Product prices.
- The language of the store.
- The domain or subdomain used.
- Shipping conditions.
For example, if you are going to operate with Dropea in Portugal, you will need to create a market that includes the Portugal region.
Before we begin
If you're using a Shopify store that previously operated in another market and already had the Dropea app installed, you'll need to uninstall the Dropea app first .
After that, you can create or configure the new market and reinstall the app to link it to the correct market.
1. Access the Markets section
- Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
- In the side menu, locate the Markets option.
- Click on Markets to access the settings.
Depending on your panel version, the option may appear directly in the side menu or within Settings .
2. Create a new market
Once inside the Markets section:
- Click on the Create Market button.
- A new screen will open to configure the market.
3. Enter the market name
In the Name field, enter a name that will allow you to easily identify the market.
For example:
- Spain
- Portugal
- Italy
This name is used solely to organize markets within your Shopify dashboard.
You can also choose the initial market state:
- Draft: the market is configured, but it will not yet be available to customers.
- Active: The market will be enabled when you save the settings.
4. Select the country or region
In the Includes section, you must indicate which country or region will be part of the market.
- Click on Add condition .
- Select the Regions option.
- Find the country in which you will operate.
- Check the corresponding box.
- Confirm the selection.
For example, if you are going to use Dropea to sell in Italy, you will need to select:
Regions → Italy
Make sure you select the correct country. The market configured in Shopify must match the market where you will install and use the Dropea app.
5. Save and activate the market
When you have finished reviewing the settings:
- Click Save .
- Return to the Markets section.
- Open the market you just created.
- Check that all the data is correct.
- Change the status from Draft to Active when you are ready to start trading.
6. Install the Dropea app
Once the marketplace is successfully created in Shopify, you can proceed with the installation of the Dropea app.
1. Choose the market in the drop panel.
2. Create the marketplace in Shopify.
3. Select the corresponding country or region.
4. Save and activate the market.
5. Install the Dropea app.
What to do if the Dropea app was already installed?
If the store was previously used for another market and already had the Dropea app installed, follow these steps:
- Access the Shopify admin panel.
- Go to Settings → Apps .
- Locate the Dropea app.
- Uninstall the app.
- Create or configure the new marketplace by following the steps in this article.
- Reinstall the Dropea app.
- Complete the connection with the right market.
First, you need to create and configure the correct marketplace in Shopify. Once created, you can reinstall the Dropea app and complete the linking process.
Final check
Before installing the Dropea app, please verify that:
- The marketplace is built on Shopify.
- The selected country or region must be correct.
- The previous Dropea app may have been uninstalled if the store previously operated in another market.
Once you have completed these checks, you can install the Dropea app and begin setting up your store for the new marketplace.
